Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Adeshina, popularly known as Elegbeje Ado, has passed away.
The actor, who was also a pastor, reportedly died on Monday, June 29, 2026, following a brief illness. He was 66 years old.
His death was confirmed on Tuesday by Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood Awards, in a post shared on Instagram.
Oloketuyi described Adeshina as a respected figure in the Yoruba movie industry, expressing sadness over his passing.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pastor Taiwo Adeshina, a beloved Nollywood legend,” he wrote.
He added that Adeshina’s impact on the Yoruba film industry and the many lives he influenced would remain unforgettable, while praying for comfort for his family, friends, and fans.
Taiwo Adeshina, widely known by his stage name Elegbeje Ado, was a respected figure in the Yoruba arm of Nigeria’s Nollywood industry. Over the years, he built a reputation for his strong performances in indigenous films, earning admiration from colleagues and fans alike.
Beyond acting, Adeshina was also known for his work as a pastor, balancing his career in entertainment with ministry. His influence extended beyond the screen, as he was regarded as a mentor and role model within the Yoruba movie industry.
