Nigerian singer, Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour Nabania, has recalled how P-Square humiliated him during the early days of his music career.
Flavour shared the experience during a recent podcast interview, revealing that a club manager once asked him to leave the stage while he was performing after P-Square arrived at the venue midway through his set.
According to the ‘Ada Ada’ crooner, the reception P-Square received from the audience made him question whether they were not all performing the same type of music.
Flavour said he had been performing at the venue without receiving much reaction from the crowd until P-Square arrived and took over the stage.
He recalled that the audience, particularly the ladies, erupted in excitement when Paul Okoye of P-Square took the microphone and began performing their hit song, ‘Temptation.’
“I was performing one time when P-Square came in, and the manager of the place told me to leave the stage immediately.
“I switched off my mic and went and sat down somewhere. Ladies were screaming and cheering wildly the moment Paul of P-Square took the mic and began singing ‘Temptation.’
“I was wondering whether it is not the same music we are all doing because I had been performing there and the crowd had never cheered me that way.
“I didn’t let the experience discourage me. Instead, I took it as motivation to work harder.”
Flavour said the experience, although embarrassing at the time, pushed him to become more determined and consistent in his pursuit of a successful music career.
The singer has since established himself as one of Nigeria’s leading highlife and Afrobeats artistes, with several hit songs to his name.
