Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State received members of the Rainbow Coalition’s Reconciliation Committee, headed by Senator Magnus Abe, at the Government House in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
The state’s All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Kingsley Chinda, was likewise present at the meeting.
The visit formed part of broader strategies aimed at building political synergy and fostering consensus among major stakeholders in the state.
This development follows closely on the heels of statements by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who recently announced the creation of the Abe-led committee to bolster unity within the Rainbow Coalition throughout Rivers State.
According to former Rivers State governor Wike, the panel was formed to engage political actors and drive cohesion within the coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The step underscores ongoing initiatives by key political figures to widen the coalition’s base and reconcile varying interests across Rivers State.
Governor Fubara, alongside several other stakeholders, received the visiting delegation at the Government House.

In July, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara publicly declared his alignment with the Rainbow Coalition, backed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, and designated Kingsley Chinda as his choice for the state’s next governor.
He shared the decision on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Rivien Medical Industry in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. In a viral clip, Fubara confirmed his return to his core political network and urged his followers to rally behind the Nyesom Wike-led coalition.
During a foundation-laying event for the Rivien Medical Industry project in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara formally endorsed the Rainbow Coalition, threw his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 reelection bid, and tapped Kingsley Chinda as his successor.
The development also follows months of political tension within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and disagreements among its factions over the party’s leadership and 2027 strategy. Fubara’s political relationship with former governor and current FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has also remained a major factor in Rivers politics, with both camps having traded accusations and pursued different political interests.
