FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has embarked on a vacation following over 30 consecutive days of commissioning completed projects, launching new initiatives, and inspecting ongoing work across the city.
Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, announced the break in a post on X on Monday.
Olayinka noted that Wike spent the period reviewing and evaluating several key projects throughout the territory, focusing particularly on those scheduled for commissioning in December and January.
“Holiday time for Nyerisi. He is somewhere in the world, relaxing after spending over 30 days, commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting ongoing ones, especially those scheduled for commissioning in December and January, next year,” Olayinka wrote.
As the FCT Administration accelerates efforts to complete ongoing infrastructure works, the minister recently led a series of project inspections and commissioning events across Abuja.
Olayinka stated that following this extended stretch of official engagements, the minister has taken time off to rest.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory in August 2023.
Since assuming office, Wike has prioritized road construction, the rehabilitation of existing FCT infrastructure, the expansion of public utilities, and the development of satellite towns.
The administration continues to push forward on several projects slated for completion and commissioning in the coming months as Wike begins his break.

Wike’s vacation comes after a busy period in the Federal Capital Territory, where the FCT Minister has spent the past several weeks commissioning completed projects and inspecting ongoing infrastructure across Abuja.
The activities formed part of the FCT Administration’s push to deliver and inaugurate a series of roads, bridges, schools, healthcare facilities and other projects across the nation’s capital.
The development also comes shortly after Vice President Kashim Shettima began a two-week vacation, marking the first time he has taken an extended leave since becoming Tinubu’s deputy.
