A 25-year-old Zambian model and socialite, Lisa Mutambo, has died after reportedly vomiting and losing consciousness at a residence in Lusaka’s Kalundu area following a night out with friends.
The Zambia Police Service, through Chelstone Police Station, said the incident was reported around 9:30am on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Mutambo reportedly died between 3:30am and 4:30am at Victoria Hospital.
According to police deputy spokesperson Chipo Kaitisha, Mutambo had spent the evening of August 19 with two female friends at a hotel where she worked as an ambassador.
The three women reportedly left the hotel around 10:30pm and continued their outing at another drinking establishment in Lusaka.
Police said Mutambo’s boyfriend arrived between 2:30am and 3:00am and picked up the three women. He reportedly dropped the two friends off in the Minestone/Casanova area before taking Mutambo to the residence in Kalundu.
Upon arriving at the residence, Mutambo allegedly began vomiting and later became unconscious.
Her boyfriend reportedly contacted a friend, who helped transport her to Victoria Hospital. She was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital.
In a statement, the Zambia Police Service said: “The Zambia Police Service, through Chelstone Police Station, received a report of a sudden death involving a 25-year-old female identified as Lisa Mutambo.”
Police officers reportedly processed both the primary and secondary scenes following the incident. Mutambo’s body was initially taken to FSG Mortuary before being transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Authorities also said no visible physical injuries were found on her body, addressing social media allegations that she had been assaulted and beaten to death by her boyfriend.
Police said the circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation, with a postmortem examination expected to help establish the cause of death.
