Backstory…

The development follows President Bola Tinubu’s announcement on October 14, 2026—during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja—that executive responsibilities and national economic commitments would prevent him from attending every campaign rally ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Emphasizing that his presidential duties will continue throughout the campaign season, Tinubu urged party leaders to spearhead grassroots mobilization efforts across all states and local government areas.

Reacting, Dr. Sam Amadi, former head of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, has accused President Bola Tinubu of attempting to evade the rigorous demands of the 2027 electoral campaign trail.

Atiku Abubakar, the ADC presidential candidate has also criticised president Tinubu over his planned absence from APC campaign rallies
