Telegram’s Durov Discusses Having 100 Kids While Single”.
Pavel Durov, the 39-year-old founder and CEO of Telegram, recently shared an extraordinary personal story about his contributions to helping couples worldwide. In a video posted on his popular Telegram channel on July 29, Durov revealed that he has fathered over 100 biological children, despite being unmarried and preferring a solitary lifestyle.
Fifteen years ago, Durov was approached by a friend who was struggling with fertility issues and asked if he would donate sperm at a clinic. Durov initially found the request amusing but eventually agreed, driven by the clinic’s urgent need for “high-quality donor material.” This decision led to his sperm being used in over a dozen countries, resulting in more than 100 children being born.
Durov disclosed that even after he stopped donating sperm, some of his frozen sperm remains available at IVF clinics for anonymous use. He expressed a willingness to open-source his DNA to help his biological children find him, despite acknowledging the potential risks involved.
He emphasized the global shortage of healthy sperm and encouraged other healthy men to consider sperm donation to assist families struggling with infertility. Durov’s unique situation highlights both the personal and broader social impact of sperm donation, reflecting his commitment to addressing a significant reproductive health issue.
Durov, originally from Russia but now based in the UAE, is recognized as a leading entrepreneur and was named the richest expatriate in the UAE by Forbes in 2022. He was also honored as the most powerful entrepreneur in Dubai by Arabian Business in early 2023.
