Jigawa Government Imposes 24-Hour Curfew

Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, imposed a 24-hour curfew on Friday in response to escalating violence during the first day of the nationwide protests. In a state broadcast, Namadi described the situation as unfortunate and emphasized the need to restore peace and stability.

The governor acknowledged the impact of the curfew on daily life but announced a temporary relaxation from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Friday to allow residents to attend Juma’a prayers at the mosque. The decision came after the protests, initially peaceful, turned violent with reports of destruction and looting.
