A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Abdullahi Shinkafi, has welcomed the defection of the state governor, Dauda Lawal, to the party, describing it as a positive and strategic development.

Shinkafi said Lawal’s move is a crucial step that will boost unity, strengthen stability, and expand the APC’s influence in the state, positioning the party for victory in the 2027 governorship election. He made the remarks while formally receiving the governor into the APC following Lawal’s announcement on Monday.
According to Shinkafi, Governor Lawal’s decision to join the ruling party reflects a commitment to collaboration and collective efforts aimed at improving the welfare of the people and accelerating development in Zamfara State. He emphasized that the APC is an inclusive platform that embraces leaders dedicated to good governance, peace, and sustainable development.

Shinkafi urged party members, supporters, and residents of the state to warmly welcome the governor and work together in a spirit of unity and progress for the benefit of both the state and the nation. He reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace, development, and the consolidation of democracy in Zamfara State.
Expressing confidence in the APC’s prospects, Shinkafi predicted the party will win the forthcoming elections in the state and secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, building on the success of the 2023 elections. He encouraged party members to set aside political differences and contribute to the growth of the party in Zamfara.
Finally, Shinkafi called on eligible citizens to participate in the ongoing INEC voter registration, obtain their permanent voter cards, and vote in large numbers for the APC to ensure the continuation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which has laid the foundation for economic prosperity, national security, and unity.
