The Governor of Abia State, Gov Otti, has unveiled plans to establish a massive 250-rooms hotel to boost tourism in the state.
Gov Otti also revealed that discussions have reached an advanced stage with a renowned company to construct the five-star hotel in Umuahia.
The Governor further stated that authorities have already identified the site for the facility and added that they will sign a partnership agreement by the weekend ahead of an imminent groundbreaking event.
He said “I got the draft agreement, which I shall sign this weekend to bring in a partner and sign an agreement for a five-star hotel, just like we are doing in Aba with the Radisson Blu,”
“It is a name that you know and a name you will be very proud of”.
Additionally, he reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to institutionalising sustainable development and good governance.
He also stated that stewardship and service to the people must be the foundation of leadership.
Gov Otti emphasised that his administration continues to be led by divine guidance and public trust.
He added that governance is a sacred responsibility.
He said “It is a privilege to serve our people and I personally see leadership as service and leadership as stewardship.
“Anytime you take away stewardship from leadership, it becomes self-serving, because for us, this is about stewardship,”
Key Projects in Umahia
Furthermore, he listed key projects ongoing including the proposed five-star hotel, Umuahia Township Stadium and Amachara Specialist Hospital.
He said: “The transformation of Umuahia is at an infant stage; it is just starting and we have clearly set out in our minds what we want Umuahia to look like.
“We are not comparing ourselves with anybody. We do not want Umuahia to look like Dubai; we want it to look like Umuahia.
