Abuja: German national robbed, stabbed by 2 motorcycle thugs, stirs panic among foreigners

Security analysts have characterised the Saturday morning stabbing and robbery of a German national in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, as yet another alarming indication of the city’s increasing crime rate lawlessness.

The incident happened at around 8 a.m. on Saturday along IBB Way, near the Maitama Primary School, according to a security report obtained by SaharaReporters.

The unidentified German national was attacked by thugs on motorcycles when he was allegedly strolling down the street.

According to information obtained by SaharaReporters, the assailants stabbed him, took away his possessions, and fled from the scene.

The report highlighted that both foreigners and locals are now potential targets and highlighted growing security issues in Abuja, particularly the growing use of motorcycles for quick robberies.

Residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were cautioned to take extreme caution in the alert that was released with the incident report.

It encouraged people to think about using safe transit options, refrain from showing valuables, and avoid wandering alone in places with inadequate security.

The report reads: “On September 13, 2025, at approximately 0800hrs, a German national was stabbed and robbed along IBB Way in Abuja, near Maitama Primary School. The victim was walking when attacked by hoodlums on motorcycles.
