Abuja Tragedy: Boyfriend Becomes Prime Suspect As Woman Dies After Visiting Him

A woman who has been identified as just Esther has reportedly died after visiting her boyfriend in Abuja.

According to information received, the event took place on Wednesday in the Federal Capital Territory’s Dei-Dei neighbourhood.

A resident of the area, who gave his name as Dauda, said Esther left home on Wednesday to visit her boyfriend.

He claimed that after Esther passed away, the lover called her older brother in the middle of the night to let him know.

Dauda went on to say that the boyfriend claimed to have bought her food, which caused her to start throwing up afterward.

He mentioned that she was taken to Kubwa General Hospital by her boyfriend, where she passed away while undergoing treatment.

According to Dauda, the boyfriend has turned off both his and Esther’s phones

He said, “Esther left home in the afternoon on January 21, 2026, informing her sister that she was going to a bank in Dei-Dei. She, however, did not return home.

“Later that night, at about on the same day, his brother received an anonymous phone call from a man who identified himself as Esther’s boyfriend. The caller re stated that Esther had visited him at his residence, where he bought food for her. After eating the meal, she began vomiting, prompting him to rush her to Kubwa General Hospital.

“He said Esther died while receiving treatment at the hospital. Since then her boyfriend’s number has been switched off, same with Esther’s phone number. He didn’t also give his name or address.”

When contacted on Friday, the Federal Capital Territory Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, said an investigation was ongoing.
