BREAKING: Adamawa Police to Begin Strict Enforcement of Tinted Glass Permit on October 2

The Adamawa State Police Command has announced that it will commence strict enforcement of the law regulating the use of tinted glasses on October 2, 2025.

This directive aligns with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act, the Road Traffic Act of 2004, and other related regulations. The Command emphasizes that the law remains in force and urges the public to take note.

In a statement obtained on Tuesday morning, the Command reminded vehicle owners that the use of factory-fitted or aftermarket tinted glasses requires an appropriate permit. Failure to comply with this regulation will attract penalties as stipulated by law. The Command urges all vehicle owners to obtain the necessary permits to avoid legal repercussions.

The Nigeria Police Force has emphasized that this is the only authorized platform for applications and cautioned against using unofficial channels. “Accordingly, the Command will commence strict enforcement of this regulation with effect from 2nd October, 2025,” the command said in the statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

Nguroje advised tinted glass owners in Adamawa to obtain or update their permits before the enforcement date to avoid sanctions.

He explained that the planned enforcement in Adamawa is informed by prevailing security concerns.

“Criminals often use vehicles with heavily tinted glasses to transport weapons, abduct victims, or evade detection at checkpoints,” Nguroje explained, adding that regulating tinted glasses is vital to curtailing crimes.
