The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims of a Christian genocide in Nigeria, stating that there is no credible evidence to support such allegations.

The ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made this known on Tuesday during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television and monitored by The Guardian.
His comments came in response to a recent declaration by U.S. President Donald Trump, who classified Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged cases of Christian persecution.

It was also reported that Trump claimed he had directed the U.S. Defence Department to prepare for possible military action in Nigeria if the Nigerian government “continues to allow the killing of Christians.”
Reacting to the allegation, the ADC spokesman said, “I cannot say there is evidence of genocide and from what we have seen we cannot describe what is going on as genocide.
“The question is not about how the Americans are framing it. The question is that people are being killed in Nigeria and we have the opportunity to let the Americans know that there’s no genocide going on in Nigeria.”
