The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has stated that President Bola Tinubu’s reported 30 per cent approval rating reflects growing public dissatisfaction with his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said worsening economic hardship, rising food prices, unemployment, and insecurity have continued to put pressure on Nigerians across the country.

The party referenced a survey conducted by Eagle Badger Data Analytics (EBDA), which reportedly showed that only 30.2 per cent of Nigerians approve of President Tinubu’s performance, while 47.5 per cent expressed disapproval.

According to the ADC, such an approval rating cannot be seen as an achievement, arguing instead that it reflects widespread frustration among citizens.

The opposition party maintained that nearly seven out of every 10 Nigerians are either dissatisfied with the administration or uncertain about the country’s direction under Tinubu’s leadership.

The statement further noted that many families are struggling to cope with the increasing cost of living, as basic necessities such as food, transportation, rent, and school fees have become more expensive.

The ADC also claimed that food prices have risen by over 90 per cent since May 2023, while general inflation has increased significantly during the same period.

While accusing the government of focusing heavily on macroeconomic indicators, the party argued that ordinary Nigerians are more concerned about their daily survival and living conditions.

On insecurity, the ADC alleged that many farmers are still unable to safely return to their farms due to persistent attacks by bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal groups operating in parts of the country.

The party insisted that after three years in office, the Tinubu administration should no longer blame previous governments for the nation’s challenges, stressing that leadership should be judged by results rather than excuses.

The ADC added that the survey findings should serve as a warning signal ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that Nigerians are demanding leadership that prioritises economic recovery, job creation, and improved security.
