The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for travelling abroad on holiday despite ongoing security challenges in the state.

The party further condemned the governor, accusing him of demonstrating a lack of preparedness for effective governance and an inability to provide the leadership required for a state as complex as Osun.
In a statement issued by the State Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal on Saturday, the Osun APC said it had “almost given up on the series of persistent missteps and misgovernance characterising the three-year administration of the embattled Governor Ademola Adeleke.”
The party argued that since the governor assumed office in November 2022, his conduct had suggested a lack of preparedness and competence.
“His approach has shown that it is either he is not prepared for effective governance or he is grossly lacking in what it takes to govern the state,” the statement read.
According to the APC, the administration’s failings have left many citizens looking forward to November 2026, when Governor Adeleke’s tenure will end.
The opposition party accused the governor of focusing more on the glamour of office than on meeting the responsibilities that come with it.
“We have solace in the constitutional respite that the terminal life of the PDP-led administration is November 2026.
“His conduct has shown that he is more fascinated by the office than by the capability to serve,” the statement said.
The APC expressed concern that the governor recently travelled to Texas in the United States to attend a birthday event while the state faced security concerns, especially with neighbouring Kwara experiencing increased banditry.
The party also contrasted Ademola Adeleke’s actions with those of President Bola Tinubu, who it said had postponed a working visit to South Africa to attend to security emergencies in the northern region
“It is difficult to explain that Governor Ademola Adeleke could choose to attend a birthday party while the state is under security threat.
“This year alone, Governor Adeleke has embarked on personal visits to the United States no fewer than six times,” the APC added.
It also criticised what it called the governor’s neglect of local governance, noting that grassroots administration had been largely inactive for eight months.
“One wonders why the quasi-absence of governance at the grassroots level has not been of concern to him,” the statement said.
The party further accused governor Ademola Adeleke of failing to address the strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, which has shut courts in the state for over two months.
“All the state courts have been under lock and key while the number one citizen is busy dancing across cities and continents,” it claimed.
The APC while arguing that the prolonged closure of the courts had denied justice to millions of residents urged citizens to continue with their endurance until the next governorship election.
The party also advised residents to be vigilant about their safety.
