Nollywood actress Adunni Ade has triumphed in a defamation lawsuit against a Nigerian news outlet, marking a significant legal victory nearly two years after being wrongly linked to Senator Dino Melaye.
The actress was previously listed among “six popular Nigerian celebrities” alleged to be romantically involved with the senator. Dismissing the claims as entirely false, Adunni Ade took legal action, filing a ₦100 million lawsuit against the platform for defamation and invasion of privacy.
In an update on her Instagram page, the actress on Tuesday evening applauded the “Nigerian Court of law” for getting her justice.
While celebrating her win, she said: “Won my case Adunni Ade vs. Polace
Media Limited (www.naijanews.com). A false story was published about me, but truth stood tall. This judgment reaffirms that privacy matters – and so does integrity. Justice delayed isn’t justice denied.
“2 cases won, a few more to go. You who is running up and down avoiding court papers, please stand still, so that you can be served.”
Replying to questions under her comment section, Adunni said, “Judge granted N20 million in damages, but blogger don japa. Na to garnish account remain.”
