The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat as its governorship candidate for Kano State after he won the party’s primary election.
Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat defeated his closest rival, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Abacha, son of former Nigerian Head of State, Sani Abacha.
According to the result declared by the chairman of the election committee set up by the PDP national leadership, Hon. Umar Danjani Hadejia, Dalhat secured a total of 2,233 votes to clinch the ticket.
His opponent, Abacha, polled 749 votes in the contest.
“With the total votes cast, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat emerged with the highest number of votes and is hereby declared the winner and the PDP governorship candidate for Kano State,” the committee chairman stated.
The primary election comes as political parties across the country step up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
