Anambra Community Erupts in Rage, Storms Soludo’s Office Over Killing of 20 Kinsmen, 200 Houses Burnt

It was harvest of tears and pain as residents of Lilu community in Ihiala Local Council, Anambra State stormed the Government House, Akwa, in tears and heavy hearts.

The individuals, comprising young youngsters and older men and women, kept their faces straight, which they said demonstrated the gravity and urgency of their purpose.

According to their spokesperson who gave some residents of the community were forced to abandon the burial of two of their kinsmen halfway when word got to them that two others who sustained severe matchet cuts in last Sunday’s attack had died while receiving treatment.

The violent gun attacks started a few years ago, according to the group’s spokesperson who briefed Solo Chukwulobelu, the secretary to the Anambra State Government (SSG), on their work. He claimed that nine people died in the massacre last Sunday, and eleven kinsmen were killed in their first unpleasant encounter.

He pointed out that the latest murdering spree has claimed the lives of twenty persons thus far.

The people bemoaned that every day is still difficult for them since they are either abducted, killed, or simply vanish without a trace while pleading with Governor Chukwuma Soludo to help them.

He bemoaned the fact that around 85% of the town now resides in nearby communities.

Some locals carried signs that read things like “Soludo save us,” “Lilu is in danger of going extinct,” and “Is Lilu really in Anambra State?”

Additionally, the brutal murder and beheading of Venerable Gabriel Obiesie’s wife, who was burned along with the St Andrew’s Anglican Church parsonage, their children, cars, and all of their property, was described as sacrilegious, inhuman, and an abomination by the palace of their traditional ruler, Igwe Godson Onyediri, who pleaded with the governor for prompt assistance.

Chukwulobelu called for their ongoing understanding while acknowledging their calm demeanour despite severe provocation.

The governor, according to the SSG, was not giving up on securing a long-term peace in Lilu and other troubled areas of the state.

He gathered all of their signs and pledged to bring their case before the governor later that day.

This comes after a number of attacks were launched in different communities in Anambra State.
