A faction of the Accord Party has held a parallel governorship primary, producing Mr. Clement Bamigbola as its candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
This development comes just four days after Governor Ademola Adeleke emerged as the party’s flagbearer in a separate primary exercise.
Earlier in the week, another faction of the party, led by Maxwell Mgbudem, conducted a primary that produced Adeleke—who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—as its governorship candidate.
However, a segment of the party rejected that outcome, arguing that Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem is not the legally recognized national chairman of the Accord Party.
In a new development on Sunday, approximately 300 delegates representing the Accord Party from various parts of Osun State gathered at Regina Suite, Osogbo, to conduct a fresh primary.
Through a voice vote by the delegates, Bamigbola was chosen as the factional candidate. Following the voting, Hon. Olufemi Ogundare, Chairman of the Primary Committee, officially declared him as the party’s candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
