In a joint statement, the South-West Zonal Chairman, Isaacs Kekemeke, alongside Zonal Secretary Vincent Bewaji and Zonal Organising Secretary Lateef Ibirogba, called on all accredited delegates to arrive early and strictly adhere to the guidelines for the exercise.

The APC party disclosed that the congress, scheduled to commence at 9:00 a.m., forms part of a broader nationwide restructuring initiative approved by its national leadership, aimed at strengthening party structures ahead of the national convention and upcoming elections.

According to the leadership, the event will serve as a platform to evaluate the party’s performance in the South-West, foster unity among stakeholders, and reposition the APC for better electoral outcomes.

They also outlined the categories of statutory delegates expected at the congress in line with Article 12.7 of the party’s constitution. These include the zonal chairman and past holders of the office, members of the zonal executive committee, serving and former governors from the region, as well as current and former members of the National Assembly.

Other expected participants include serving and former principal officers of state Houses of Assembly, state party chairmen, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), National Caucus members, and additional statutory delegates to the national convention.

The APC party assured that adequate security and logistical arrangements have been put in place to manage the anticipated turnout, noting that coordination with relevant authorities is ongoing to ensure a smooth and orderly process.

The leadership further emphasized that the wide representation of delegates highlights the significance of the congress as a key gathering point for political leaders, grassroots mobilisers, and institutional stakeholders across the region.

The South-West zone, comprising Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states, remains a vital stronghold for the ruling party.

The congress is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening leadership structures, reinforcing alliances, and promoting unity within the region ahead of future political contests.
