Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, has stated that the corruption charges against former Governor Umar Ganduje remain in effect, despite Governor Abba Yusuf’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Waiya made the remarks on Thursday concerning his defection to APC while speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, according to reports.
Recall that Governor Yusuf resigned from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) last Friday before officially joining the APC.
According to Waiya: “As far as the Nigerian legal system is concerned, you may be accused of a number of corruption allegations, but the most important thing is when you are pronounced guilty by the court of law.

“The corruption allegation is still before judicial processes. Kano is evolving, and we are bringing everyone on board. Ganduje has not been found guilty of the allegations.
“No court of law has ever pronounced him to be guilty of such charges or such allegations. We have learned that with the judicial process, we do not want to intervene.”
