Power shift looms as APC targets control of 30 States by 2026
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has stated that Nigeria will have at least 30  APC-controlled states by 2026, emphasising that more opposition governors have indicated interest in joining the ruling party.

The minister made this statement on Wednesday at the Progressive Governors Forum’s (PGF) 2025 Quarterly Strategy Meeting for Commissioners for Information of APC-governed states, which was held at the Government House Multipurpose Hall in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Idris went on to say that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he claimed had spurred economic reforms, encouraged inclusive governance, and stabilised the currency, is to blame for the flood of defections into the All Progressive Congress.
