The biggest flag carrier in Nigeria, Air Peace, has reported that Flight P47190, which departed from Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport this morning and arrived at Port Harcourt International Airport, had a runway excursion.
According to reports, the plane had veered off the runway into nearby bushes before coming to a halt, causing panic among passengers onboard
However, according to a statement from the Air Peace spokesperson, Mr. Osifo-whiskey Efe, the plane strayed slightly off the runway but was unharmed.
He said: “We reassure the flying public of our unflinching commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety in all our operations.”
This is coming 6 days after the airline left passengers stranded at the Abuja airport from about 11am till 6pm.
Similarly, a runway excursion also happened to an Allied Air aircraft approximately seven months prior to the incident.
Allied Air’s Boeing 737-400 (5N-JRT) freight plane had a runway excursion at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on December 11, 2024.
Arriving from Lagos as flight AJK206, the plane landed on Runway 22’s right side, veered off, and came to rest on the grass verge.
