Atiku Abubakar: Tinubu’s True Colours Are Now Clear to Nigerians

The African Democratic Congress(ADC), presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has said that President Tinubu’s true colours are now very clear to Nigerians .

Reacting  to the court’s judgment forcing INEC to deregister the Nigeria Democratic Congress(NDC), as a political party, Atiku said this in a statement on Saturday.

The ADC chieftain while speaking accused Tinubu of attempting to undermine Nigeria’s democracy through a plot to deregister the NDC, warning that such a move could pave the way for a one-party state.

Additionally,  described the  attempt to deregister the opposition party through judicial means as proof of what he called the APC led administration’s determination to cripple political opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.
He argued that any attempt to suppress political competition or restrict voters’ choices poses a serious threat to democratic governance and national stability.

The former vice president  further maintained that the development did not come as a surprise, claiming that the current administration’s previous actions and political signals had already raised concerns about its commitment to democratic principles.

Atiku Abubakar said, “Nigerians are now seeing the true colours of President Tinubu, who pretends to be a democrat, but his body language and the sinister activities of his agents contradict his mouthed commitment to free and fair elections.”

‘This Is an Attack on Democracy’ — Dickson

Meanwhile, the NDC national leader, Seriake Dickson has raised alarm with claims that the party is under attack from external forces aggrieved by its rapid progress but will prevail.

Dickson made the claim in reaction to the judgement of the federal high court in Lokoja, Kogi state, that set aside an earlier order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.

Recall that the court vacated its December 10, 2025, judgement compelling INEC to register the NDC as a political party.

Justice Isah Dashen, who presided over suit No. FHC/LKJ/CS/49/2025, ruled that the court delivered the earlier judgment without hearing all interested parties, rendering the proceedings unconstitutional.

Backstory…

Consequently, the presidential ambition of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, may face a setback following the Federal High Court in judgement nullifying its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress as a political party.

Additionally, Nigerian businessman and social media commentator, Uche Rochas, has claimed that the presidential Peter Obi, will not be on the ballot in 2027.

Taking to his X handle on Saturday, Rochas claimed that Obi will be missed in the election, insinuating that the NDC will not participate in the election.

He wrote, “Peter Obi will not be on any ballot in the 2027 general election. We will certainly miss him, and the noise.

“I also feel sorry for those he deceived into spending their time and money on the NDC. Now, there will be no refunds.”
