At least six individuals have been kidnapped by bandits during an early morning attack on Gazau village in Sokoto State’s Isa Local Government Area.
According to a source who spoke to newsmen, the attackers stormed multiple residences in the village at around one in the morning on Monday and kidnapped a total of thirteen people, including twelve women and one guy.
He explained that the attackers later stopped at Dan Adama Forest and asked those abducted to identify themselves, saying that they released one person for every two individuals from the same household.
He further explained, “In the end, the assailants took six persons to their hideout, while seven others were freed.”
He identified the abducted victims by name as Asabe Zakariya, Inno Ibrahim, Inno Musa, Umma Yusuf, Safina Abdullahi, and Saminu Jijji.
According to the report, the bandits vowed to keep attacking the community every day unless the locals asked them for forgiveness.
This incident comes amid heightened attacks on multiple Northern states in recent times including, Kaduna, Kebbi, Benue, Plateau, Zamfara, Bauchi among others.
The chairman of Isa LGA, Sharehu Abubakar Kamarawa, could not be reached by phone as his lines were unreachable.
Similarly, the Sokoto State Police Command spokesman, DSP Ahmad Rufai, when reached did not respond to phone calls.
