PUBLIC NOTICE: Customers Without Tax ID Risk Account Restrictions Effective 1st January 2026

Fidelity Bank Plc has officially announced that, effective January 1, 2026, accounts not linked to a Tax ID Number (TIN) or National Identity Number (NIN) will face restrictions on transactions.

The action complies with the Nigerian Tax Administration Act (NTAA) 2025, which requires that all bank accounts be linked to a TIN. Customers who do not have a TIN must alternatively link their NIN.

The bank in a message to customers urged them to update their account details promptly to avoid service disruptions.

Fidelity Bank offered several ways to update NIN information in its warning, including its website, branches, and USSD platform.

The bank stated that prompt compliance will guarantee ongoing access to banking services, which reflects the institution’s dedication to safe, regulated financial activities in Nigeria as well as government policy.
