Bauchi State caucus of the All Progressives Congress, on Tuesday night, rejected moves by the APC stakeholders to admit Governor Bala Mohammed into the party.
Shortly after its meeting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, the caucus announced its decision.

The governor allegedly intended to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on March 31, 2026, according to the DAILY POST.
However, the anticipated defection was postponed after the governor met with Abba Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, and Nentawe Yilwatda, the National Chairman of the APC, which fuelled rumours that he would be joining the ruling party.

Sama’ila Dahuwa, the chairman of the Bauchi APC caucus and senator for the Bauchi North Senatorial District, told reporters during the caucus meeting on Tuesday night that members had unanimously decided to reject Mohammed’s requested admittance into the party.
He stated that the caucus “unequivocally rejects” the action following thorough discussions.

According to Senator Dahuwa, “the caucus firmly holds that his (Kwankwaso) admission into the APC at this time will be detrimental to the party’s cohesion, credibility, and electoral prospects in Bauchi State”.
Following the leadership crisis that crippled the PDP, Bala Mohammed had signalled a move to defect to either the APC or ADC.
