The Bayelsa United’s team bus has been reportedly involved in a major incident on the Abuja road while en route to Kano State for their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 22 fixture against Barau FC.
Players and officials on board reportedly had a moment of terror when one of the tires came off while the car was moving.
However, no life was lost in the collision, according to witnesses, as the driver was able to regain control.

According to reports, every member of the Bayelsa United contingent is safe and has not sustained any significant injuries.
Alternative plans for the team’s journey and how they will affect their match preparations have not yet been disclosed by officials.
Recall that in June 2025, a similar accident involving a Kano State team bus returning from a sports festival in the southwest of the country claimed the lives of twenty-two persons.

The state bus carrying the team went off the road and overturned around the village of Dakatsalle, about 40 kilometres from Kano, killing athletes, coaches, officials, medical personnel, and a journalist.
One passenger on the bus was unharmed, while nine more people were hurt in the collision.

The team was making a journey of over 1,000km back from the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, which had concluded.
