Benue NASS, APC endorse Tinubu as sole candidate for 2027

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue State Caucus in the National Assembly on Wednesday voted in favour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s only contender for the presidency in 2027.

    The Benue APC Caucus is now the first legislative body in the 10th Assembly to openly declare support for President Tinubu’s reelection campaign. The endorsement was made during a press briefing at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

    The decision, according to Senator Titus Zam (Benue North-West), who spoke on behalf of the group, was based on the president’s “transformative leadership” and the multiple government interventions in Benue State since the start of his administration in May 2023.

    Accompanied by Senator Emmanuel Udende (North-East) and ten APC members of the House of Representatives from Benue, Zam mentioned a number of infrastructure projects, economic initiatives, and security efforts credited to the Tinubu administration.

    Projects including; the 465-kilometer Calabar–Ebonyi–Benue–Nasarawa–Abuja Superhighway, the Makurdi–Aliade–Otukpo–Enugu Road rehabilitation, and the dualisation of the 9th Mile–Otukpo–Makurdi Road are some of the projects that are emphasised. A flyover at the Wurukum Roundabout in Makurdi, the restoration of the Oju–Cross River federal route, and the 83.8 billion Buruku Bridge across the Katsina-Ala River among others.

    Regarding security, the Caucus praised President Tinubu’s initiatives but called on the  State Government to work more closely with federal security organisations. In order to address the ongoing instability in certain areas of the state, they demanded increased intelligence collection and community intervention.

    The lawmakers additionally pledged to support displaced farmers and communities impacted by violence throughout the state by using their legislative authority to advocate for more interventions.
