The implementation of Nigeria’s first national food city complex is set to commence in Ogyoma community, Benue State, as Governor Hyacinth Alia urged residents to ensure the safety of foreign contractors and protect project assets.

The governor made the appeal during the official handover of 34,000 hectares of land in Ogyoma, situated in the Akpa district of Otukpo Local Government Area.
The state delegation was led by the Executive Secretary of the State Investment Promotion Agency, Johnpaul Kpenkaan, alongside other government officials and representatives of the project consortium. They were received with a warm welcome by community members, traditional rulers, and chiefs.

Kpenkaan, who represented Governor Alia at the event, urged the people to prioritise the safety of visiting experts and safeguard the multi-billion-naira initiative.
Benue is one of six states selected to host the pilot phase of the national food city complex, expected to boost food production, processing and export capacity across the country.
