The National Sports Commission, NSC, has suspended the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, elective congress, reports.
The NFF elective congress was scheduled to hold in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on September 27, 2026.
According to the NSC, a new electoral process will be initiated after comprehensive reforms are carried out in consultation with the Federation Internationale de Football Association, FIFA, and the Confederation of African Football, CAF.
The commission said the decision followed the resignation of some top officials of the NFF.

The Nigeria Football Federation’s elective congress was scheduled to hold on September 27, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa State, as part of the process for electing the federation’s leadership. However, the National Sports Commission has now suspended the exercise following the resignation of top NFF officials.
The NSC said the suspension would allow comprehensive reforms to be undertaken within the federation. It added that a fresh electoral process would commence after the reforms, which are expected to be carried out in consultation with FIFA and CAF.
