Terrorists suspected to be members of Boko Haram under the command of Mallam Sadiku have reportedly blown up a bridge linking many communities and markets in Niger State with an explosive device.
The incident happened on Sunday night along the Wawa-Luma-Guffanti road, according to local sources.
The tiny, quiet road passes through the Kainji Lake National Park, where two jihadi groups—Ansaru or Mamuda, and Boko Haram—have established bases.

The timing of the event, according to locals, demonstrated the terrorists’ determination to destroy local economy.
“It happened just a day before Babanna market,” a resident of Wawa told PREMIUM TIMES by phone.
On Monday morning, a commercial vehicle transporting traders to Babana reported that the road had been completely blocked.

He claimed that the only people navigating through the rubble beneath the bridge were those on motorcycles.
Meanwhile this ugly incident comes as residents of the Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State were once again been thrown into panic following a fresh explosion that rocked the area
A video of the destroyed bridge was shared on Facebook by Abu Fudail, a resident of New Bussa, the Borgu LGA headquarters, who said that “the incident was another attempt to impoverish locals.”

He pointed out that the route provides access to 90% of the area’s important marketplaces.
He claims that the road also crosses the River Niger to reach Kontagora and Kebbi State. Additionally, it connects the Benin Republic to Babanna.
