Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have reportedly neutralised at least 61 terrorists believed to be members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) Borno.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared the update on X on Monday, the operation was carried out in coordination with the Nigerian Air Force.
He explained that the success followed an attempted infiltration of Malam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State by the insurgents on Wednesday morning.
The report noted that the attackers advanced on foot while deploying armed drones in an effort to breach the defences of troops stationed at the 68 Battalion location, but were met with strong resistance.

Citing military sources, Makama stated that a combination of air and ground operations enabled the troops to effectively engage, target, and eliminate a large number of the insurgents.
Meanwhile, the security situation in the state has recently worsened, with several lives reportedly lost in attacks by the assailants.
