The Defence Headquarters has completed its probe into sixteen military officers detained in October 2025 over alleged misconduct and violations of service rules, including accusations of attempting to destabilise the Federal Government.

In a statement released on Monday, January 26, 2026, the Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, said the investigation report has been submitted to the appropriate authorities in accordance with military regulations.
The statement noted that the findings revealed some of the officers engaged in actions contrary to military ethics and professional standards, including alleged efforts to undermine constitutional authority.

“The comprehensive investigation process, conducted in accordance with established military procedures, has carefully examined all circumstances surrounding the conduct of the affected personnel. The findings have identified a number of the officers with allegations of plotting to overthrow the government which is inconsistent with the ethics, values and professional standards required of members of the AFN,” part of the statement read.
It further added that those found to have cases to answer will be arraigned before relevant military judicial panels for trial under the Armed Forces Act and other service laws.
