The Federal Government has declared Friday, May 1, 2026, a public holiday in observance of this year’s International Workers’ Day.
The announcement from the Federal Government was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government, as he extended congratulations to workers nationwide.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Wednesday night by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
The minister praised Nigerian workers for their commitment, diligence, and contributions to national development, noting that their efforts play a vital role in the country’s progress and prosperity.

He also urged workers to remain patriotic, productive, and dedicated to their responsibilities, emphasizing that these values are key to achieving sustainable development.
