Tragedy struck in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as a fire gutted the Salvation Ministries Headquarters, located in GRA, Port Harcourt, on Saturday March 15.
Salvation Ministries, also known as Home of Success, is renowned for having one of the largest congregations in the city. Its annual “Glory Reign” crusade, which holds every January, is known for attracting millions of people from across Nigeria and internationally.
Salvation Ministries is also presently constructing a new, ultra-modern headquarters in Igwuruta, Rivers State, Nigeria which when completed, is anticipated to be one of the largest church auditoriums in Africa, with a staggering seating capacity of 120,000.
According to reports, the fire incident occurred on Saturday. However, in a surprising turn of events, some pastors and members allegedly ordered the beating of a journalist who had reported the incident on social media, damaging his phone in the process, citing that it was a minor fire.

In an official statement released by the church, it was revealed that the fire originated from the parking store within the premises. However, facilities within the premises were intact and without casualties.
