Military personnel stormed the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company headquarters in Lagos, invading the office located opposite MITV in Ikeja at around 7:40 am on Thursday.
According to reports, there had been an existing dispute between Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) and the Sam Ethnan NAF base in Ikeja, Lagos State and that the base had been without power supply for about two weeks as a result of unpaid power bills surmounting to millions of naira prompting the disconnection.

Prior investigations also revealed that an agreement had been reached for the NAF base to pay IKEDC 60 million naira for a daily power, supply of 10-12 hours, however, the prolonged power outage raised concerns of the base safety and security.
Following this, soldiers from the airforce base stormed the IKEDC premises assaulting staff and damaging equipment. The soldiers also blocked roads leading to the office, preventing intervention.

In a viral video, IKEDC staff were seen kneeling down and the extent of damage revealed as well.
Some eye witnesses revealed that the incident lasted for over an hour thirty minutes, alleging that the military men took some IKEDC staff hostage.
