Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has expelled 60 students from various academic departments after they were found culpable of examination malpractice.

The decision was reached by the BUK university’s Senate at its 43rd statutory meeting held on January 7, 2026, following a review of reports and recommendations submitted by the appropriate academic and disciplinary committees.
The development was made public in an official statement shared on the BUK university’s Facebook page on Friday.

According to the statement, investigations revealed that the affected students were involved in various acts that contravened the institution’s examination policies.
“After reviewing the cases, the Senate approved the expulsion of the students in accordance with the university’s examination regulations,” the statement noted.
The university explained that the action was carried out in line with the provisions of its General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR) and, where applicable, the General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies (GRGPS).
