The Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) has just been raised by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from 27.25% to 27.5%. This increase was disclosed to the media by the current CBN governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, after the 154th MPR meeting on Tuesday afternoon in Abuja.
CBN initially raised the Monetary Policy Rate, MPR, by 50 basis points from 26.75% to 27.25% on September 24.
The CBN governor disclosed that the decision to increase the MPR rate was decided by 11 members of the 12-member MPC present at the meeting.
