FCDA demolishes over 50 duplexes in Abuja

Property owners in the Lugbe area of Abuja are looking to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister Nyesom Wike for help. Over 50 duplexes in an estate, approved by the Abuja Geographic Information System (AGIS), in Lugbe have been demolished.

This demolition were described as “unjust” in a statement signed by Prince Isaac Omolua. They claim that the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) is working in tandem with private developers.

The FCDA’s actions are in contravention of their rights as legitimate landowners,” the landlords stated.

In a press conference that took place in Abuja recently, Omolua complained that the FCDA only wants to take the lands in Sabon Lugbe, Southwest District Layout.

He stated that despite diverse communications, the FCDA has refused to settle the matter amicably.

As believers in the present Tinubu Renewed Hope policy to develop the country, we have written several letters to the FCDA to remind them of the existing layout without response.
“It’s unfortunate that despite our peaceful approach, believing that Nigeria is our country and have nowhere else to run to, still many already developed houses have been affected by the FCDA demolition,” he lamented.

What are Nigerians saying about this?

Nigerians have taken to X to share their thoughts on the recent demolitions in Lugbe, Abuja.

A friend of mine called me 2 days ago, crying like baby, saying Wike is about demolish his house in Lugbe Abuja, never seen man in such pain before!

Nigerians are going through a lot already, the government don’t have to be this inconsiderate.

@IHIMA_PRINCIPAL

Before you buy that land in Abuja and Lagos, make sure you have one in your home town. You can lose that of Abuja and Lagos at any time but that of home town can easily be sorted and hard to lose.

@big_klaw

I don’t think if you’re not from a part of Nigeria you have any business building a house there. I have a friend who wanted to buy a house in Abuja I dissuaded him and made sure he bought the house in our state. We don’t want issues abeg

@IdiongoUdoh
As a Town planner, I urge everyone to consult a professional before developing or purchasing property in Nigeria. It can save you from heartbreaking situations like this.
