Following a court decision for a rerun, INEC will also hold polls in the Ghari/Tsanyawa State Constituency of Kano State and the Enugu South I State Constituency of Enugu State.

Previous reports revealed that resignations, lawsuits, and deaths caused the majority of seats to become vacant during the most recent elections.

The Edo Central seat became vacant, following the resignation of Senator Monday Okpebholo who was elected governor.

The by-election will be the first after the opposition leaders’ coalition established the ADC as their platform to run in the 2027 elections.

Political observers speculate that the results of the elections could impact the ADC’s strength in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, voters in Anambra, Kaduna, and other areas where renegade unknown bandits and gunmen have been wreaking havoc are worried about their safety.

The latest killings and kidnappings for ransom have further deteriorated the security situation in Anambra State.

A security source told newsmen on Friday that Anambra State’s election would be tainted by indifference due to fear of assaults.
