Deadly Church Attack: Kwara Community overrun by Soldiers

The Nigerian military has taken over Oke-Isegun community in Eruku, Kwara State, following a bandits’ a CAC Church attack on Tuesday, during which three people were slain and several of the worshippers were abducted.

The state Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi was also in Eruku with his team, according to Ayeni Olanipekun, a community spokesperson who confirmed the development, according to reports.

“As we speak,the soldiers have taken over Eruku,the Commissioner of Police,Mr Ojo Adekimi is also there with his team. We learnt that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved their deployment to the community.

“We also learnt that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is also on his way to Eruku with his team,” Olanipekun said.

Speaking about the rescue attempts, Olanipekun emphasised that they are still ongoing despite the fact that some of the local hunters who were sent to explore the woodlands have not returned.

In the widely shared video, worshippers of all ages were seen attempting to flee the church attack as the bandits engaged in a heavy gunfire inside.

The video also showed additional thieves packing handbags that attendees had left on the benches and pursuing believers into smaller rooms within the church.
