The Yoruba Council Worldwide and the Nigeria Coalition Group have urged President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to disregard calls for an extension of the 15% import duty tax tariffs on petroleum products.
During a protest held in Lagos on Tuesday, the coalition demanded the immediate enforcement of the import duty tax tariffs from Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu.

They further called for a total ban on the importation of premium motor spirit (petrol) and automotive gas oil (AGO), insisting that the policy should take effect without further delay.
According to the protesters, this would help the rapid growth of the country’s economy and encourage more Nigerians to establish more indigenous companies.
The coalition said they learnt that some oil marketers in the country are lobbying for extension of the implementation of the new tariff till the end of the first quarter of 2026.
