Activist Student Flees US to Dodge Trump’s ICE Agents!
To Momodou Taal, a Cornell University student whose visa was revoked due to his activism on campus and was subsequently facing deportation, the choice to leave the United States was now a voluntary one.

Taal, a national of the U.K. and Gambia, had previously filed for an order with a federal court preventing his detention after being effectively coerced into surrendering by the Trump administration.

Taal was told by the government that his student visa was revoked for being involved in ‘disruptive protests.”
But on his post on X late Monday, March 31, he wrote that he didn’t believe a favorable ruling would guarantee his safety or freedom to continue speaking out.
From somewhere unknown, Taal posted, ‘I have lost faith I could walk the streets without being abducted.’
‘Weighing up these options, I took the decision to leave on my own terms.’
Taal said Trump ‘did not want me to have my day in court and sent ICE agents to my home and revoked my visa.’

Getting out of this place, Taal spoke of the Trump White House, ‘was a government that has no respect for the judiciary or for the rule of law’ and added that ‘anyone out there that doesn’t speak up is not safe either.’

‘Is the imprisonment of those who speak out against a genocide a reflection of your values? Is this the kind of nation you want to live in?’ Taal questioned.
And he concluded saying, ‘History will absolve us’ and went on: ‘Long live the student intifada!’
The government claims it revoked Taal’s student visa this March for engaging in “disruptive protests” and for violations of university policies that created a hostile environment for Jewish students.
The Trump administration has made efforts to remove noncitizens who they think participated in campus protests that were anti-Semitic and pro-Hamas. Students say that the government is targeting them for voicing support for Palestinian rights.
Taal, 31, suspended last fall after pro-Palestinian activists disrupted a career fair on campus, is now a doctoral student in Africana studies at this Ivy League institution in Ithaca, New York.

The Trump administration was being sued by Taal in federal court for free speech. He dropped the suit on Monday.
His post made no mention of Taal’s whereabouts or where he planned to live next.

Nice!. Good or bad, leave people’s country the way they want it. You came here because of what he USA does with freedom. They do not want your type of freedom of speech. They may be wrong, but if you must make such mess, make it your country of birth.
Many Muslims in the US had the audacity to compare Trump to Kamala Harris / Joe Biden, claiming the latter had failed them, because of the nuanced position in the Palestinian genocide by the State of Israel. Many either stayed at home or voted for Trump (same thing), helping him get over the top. This is another FAFO moment for many of them who do not understand the difference between democratic freedoms and discourse and dictators and demagogues. Maybe they will borrow sense next time.
