The Nigerian Correctional Service clarified that Bobrisky will be held in a male prison and provided protection against assault.
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) clarified that Bobrisky would be housed in the male section of the prison during his six-month sentence. This comes after Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court sentenced Bobrisky for naira abuse charges, with Bobrisky affirming his male gender status in court.
The correctional spokesperson assured that Bobrisky would receive protection from potential sexual assault by other inmates. Human rights activist Deji Adeyanju criticized the sentence, citing concerns about prison congestion and Bobrisky’s first offense. He urged courts to consider cultural practices and suggested community service for such victimless crimes instead of imprisonment.
