Father rapes and impregnates his 17-year-old daughter in Bauchi

A 55-year-old man, Abdullahi Baban Karatu, has been arrested by the police in Bauchi State for allegedly raping and impregnating his 17-year-old daughter in the Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking to reporters via a press statement on Friday, April 10, 2025, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, explained that the suspect confessed that he had raped the girl on several occasions.

She became pregnant, according to the PPRO, on her mother’s trip to visit the mother’s parents in a village.
“The report was received at the instance of Abdullahi Baban-Karatu of 55 years of age of Kurmin Ado village via Kariya ward, Ganjuwa LGA, Bauchi state directed at Ganjuwa Divisional headquarters, the victim is named above one Umar Alh. Sule, a male of about fifty years old and of the same address.
He allegedly had planned sexual intercourse with his biological daughter (name withheld) at the age of 17 different times in November about 2100 hours in his matrimonial bedroom,” the report reads. “Immediately after the report was received, a team of certified capable detection policemen was assigned to ensure thorough investigation and arrest the accused.

“During the interrogation, the suspect readily confessed and furthermore stated that he had been sexually molesting her on several occasions leading to her three months pregnancy, as per the medical examination report.

“The victim-witness confirmed the suspect’s claims to the police, adding that the incident occurred when her biological mother had traveled to visit her parents at Burra village via Ningi LGA Bauchi state, which was the opportunity that her father took to engage in sexual intercourse with her.
“When her mother returned home, she saw the victim was pregnant and asked her who was responsible for that. The victim said it was her biological father. The investigation is ongoing.”

“The Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu psc(+), mni has ordered that the case be charged to court after the investigations.”
