From Disneyland to Death: Mum Murders 11-Year-Old
A California mother has been charged with murder after allegedly slitting the throat of her 11-year-old son in a hotel room after what seemed to be a wonderful visit to Disneyland.

Saritha Ramaraju, 48, stood charged with murder and one other felony regarding deadly weapon use after, as prosecutors claim, she applied a “large kitchen knife” against her son’s neck on Wednesday, March 19, at the La Quinta Inn and Suites, in Santa Ana.
“The safest place for a child should be in their parent’s arms,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer told reporters on Friday, March 21, having clearly been shaken by the tragedy.
Referring to the tragic event, Spitzer said: “Instead of wrapping her arms around their son in love, she sl!t his throat…And in the cruelest twist of fate, removed him from the very world she brought him into.”

The accused, who is residing outside of California, had three days of visitation custody with her son when this heinous act occurred. With the father of her son being mentioned as a party in the accusations, DA Spitzer speculated about potential disagreement between the two that may have been a catalyst to the death of the boy, Mirror US reported.
“The life of a child should not hang in the balance between two parents whose anger toward each other outweighs their love for their child,” with this outlining the influence of rage, Spitzer concluded: “Anger makes you forget who you love and what you are responsible for.”
According to prosecution and police testimonies, sometime after she had moved out of California post-divorce in 2018, visitation was taking place with Ramaraju, formerly of Irvine at the Hotel Terrace site.
During the press release, the DA’s Office communicated, “During the visit, she bought three-day passes to Disneyland for herself and her son.”
“On Wednesday…the day Ramaraju was scheduled to check out of the motel and return the boy to his father, Ramaraju called 911 at 9:12 a.m. to report that she had killed her 11-year-old son and had taken pills trying to kill herself.”
When the police arrived on the scene, there was a large kitchen knife recovered from her hotel room. According to the DA’s office, it appeared as if the child had been dead “for several hours” by the time Ramaraju notified authorities.
According to Santa Ana Police, “Officers responded to the scene and detained (Ramaraju) in the hotel hallway.”

“They added: “Inside a nearby hotel room, officers found an unresponsive 11-year-old boy with apparent stab wounds. Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived on scene and pronounced the child deceased.”
Ramaraju was arrested on suspicion of murder and hospitalized following ingestion of an unknown substance, according to police. After being discharged from the hospital on Thursday, she was charged and arraigned in Orange County.
If convicted of all charges, Ramaraju faces a maximum sentence of 26 years, as per the prosecutors.
