Gunmen abduct Bayelsa High Court Judge in Yenagoa

Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, a judge on the State High Court, was kidnapped by armed men wearing black in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.

The judge who presides over High Court 7 in the state was abducted by armed men, who stormed the area in a white Hilux van, at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Saturday in front of a well-known restaurant in the Ekeki neighbourhood along the Chief Melford Okilo expressway.

Eye witnesses disclosed that the gunmen opened fire but missed the shot.

The motive behind the abduction remains unconfirmed. However, it comes just few after similarly dressed men allegedly invaded the residence of a broadcast journalist, Oyins Egrenbido and business manager of Silverbird Communications.

A video of the crime scene was posted on social media by a blogger, “This is Bayelsa.” In the video, which has now widely circulated social media, the High Court Judge was seen struggling with his abductors, who forced him into the white Hilux before zooming off.
