Herdsmen kill Newly married soldier, others in fresh attacks on Benue community
The Ikobi-Ochekwu community in Apa Local Government Area of Benue state has seen a fresh wave of attacks by suspected herdsmen as the community was invaded on Wednesday night by gunmen, murdering a number of locals, including a recently married soldier.
According to reports, the attack was reported to have lasted for several hours.

The attackers invaded the town in the dark, shooting intermittently at residents and setting buildings on fire, according to Ochofie, a community member who spoke to news correspondents disclosed.
The source said, “In the early hours of Thursday, two more bodies were discovered in nearby Ijaha, identified as Sani Ngbede and Aduba Paul Ogboyi.”

The exact number of casualties remains unclear as several people are still missing.
Official confirmation from authorities is still pending regarding the identity of other fatalities, including the soldier who was killed and reportedly just recently married.
This is coming barely two days after an attack by herdsmen on communities in Guma and Gwer West Local Government Areas of Benue State has killed James Akase, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, in Benue State, along with three other people.
